The Life Changer is a novel that changes the narrative of life on campus.  intertwined with underlying optimism, the book upholds the tenets of hope and redemption in the lives of our youth.

The story narrates the adventurous act of Salma and her roommates in Kongo Campus of Ahmadu Bello University as a swim in the turbulent and seamy tides of the academia. Salma and her roommates were majorly used to showcase the University world. However, Salma still remains the predominant character.

The Life Changer is Khadija Abubakar Jalli’s first publication in which she opines that the female voice is making a rebound on the parapet of African literary scene.

Khadija uses imaginary characters in his work as none of them existed in real life. With her literary prowess, she endowed each character with the best quality which will help him/her play her role to the fullest.

She also uses both minor and major characters to endow her fictional work with real life situations. 

Furthermore, she uses Ummi as the narrator, Salma as the protagonist and Salma’s weaknesses as the antagonist.

In The Life Changer by Khadija Abubakar Jalli, nobody antagonized Salma physically, rather Salma’s qualities served as the antagonist. One of the qualities of Salma in the novel is pride. It made her face some failures and misfortunes and that is the antagonist in the novel.
